[CLOSED] Autumn 2023 Project Vacancies

We have vacancies for 4 new posts for the 2023 autumn semester.

Details of the Posts

The 4 posts will run across the autumn semester, from October 2023 to January 2024, with a break during the Christmas vacation and during the exam period.

All posts are part-time, requiring 7-10 hours per week across the project period, excluding holiday and exam weeks.

The base pay rate is £11.84 per hour, with an additional holiday payment on top of this. Payment is made monthly in arrears.

It is expected that the projects will be run on campus but with some scope for flexible and hybrid working. Each team will set their own core hours when all team members must be present and available for work (for example, for a weekly team meeting). Additional hours can then be worked at a time and place convenient to each team member.

The posts are open to any undergraduate student currently studying at the University of Manchester.  We especially welcome applications from groups of people who are under-represented in the software engineering profession.  We aim to recruit diverse teams for Imago, containing a mixture of experienced team members and inexperienced but talented junior team members.  Working for Imago is a great way to bootstrap your personal portfolio and add some real development experience to your CV.

The Project

FLAG-Me: Find Logo and Give Medication Advice

We have vacancies for 4 part-time developers to develop software for the creation and management of a database of strategies for advising patients in certain groups on how to take their medication safely.

The project is to support a new Community Interest Company (CIC) created by academics at the University of Manchester, called FLAG-ME. The company provides tools and resources to pharmacists to help them advise their patients on safe strategies for taking medication. The first version of the FLAG-ME toolset focussed on safety strategies for visually impaired patients. In this further project, we will create a more advanced tool for managing the strategies, and will extend them to cover strategies for hearing impaired patients.

The project will also involve some proof-of-concept updates to an open source pharmacy management system and a self-referral web service created by a previous Imago project. The updates will allow support for hearing impaired patients to be embedded alongside the current support for visually impaired patients.

More information about FLAG-ME can be found at its website.
